These Umag webcams show the westernmost town of Croatia live, on the northwest coast of Istria close to the border with Slovenia. The cameras look at the old town with its square and bell tower, the harbour, the shopping street, the beaches of Zlatna Vala and Polynesia and the coast at Lovrečica, so you can check the weather, the sea and the atmosphere before a day at the beach, a walk through town or a tennis match.
The Umag Trgovačka street webcam looks over a square in the old town with its fountain and the café terraces around it. The Hotel Zlatna Vala webcam and the Saint & Sinner beach bar webcam show the seafront promenade and the bay at Polynesia beach, while the Lovrečica webcam looks along the coast of the small village south of town, with the church tower on the shore. The Umag town center webcam has shown the main square with the parish church and its tall bell tower, and the Umag harbour webcam and the Umag main square webcam have shown the harbour with its moored boats.
The old town of Umag was built on a small islet, once separated from the mainland by a narrow channel, and its compact streets still follow the shape of the old peninsula. The area was settled in Roman times, and the remains of Roman villas lie along the coast, together with the ruins of Sipar a little to the north. In 1269 Umag swore loyalty to Venice, which governed it until 1797, and the Venetian influence can still be seen in the stone houses of the centre. Its patron saint is St Peregrine. Every summer the town hosts the Croatia Open, an ATP Tour tennis tournament played on clay courts, and the long coastline is lined with beaches, campsites and hotels.
Live images are the quickest way to see what the day really looks like in Umag: sunshine or cloud over the old town, a calm or choppy sea in the harbour, wind along the beaches and how busy the squares and promenades are at different times of day.
