The Pula Forum webcam shows a live view of the Forum, the old Roman square in the heart of Pula, with the Temple of Augustus and the town hall. Hosted by Caffe Diana.
The Forum was laid out in the 1st century BC at the foot of the central hill, close to the sea, on land reclaimed from the coast. It was the centre of life in Roman Pula, and it is still the administrative heart of the city, with cultural events on the square in summer. The live image lets you check the weather and the atmosphere in the old town before you head out.
The Temple of Augustus and the town hall
On the north side of the square stands the Temple of Augustus, built between about 2 BC and AD 14 and dedicated to Rome and Emperor Augustus. It is the only temple of the original group to survive intact, although it was almost destroyed by a bomb in 1944 and rebuilt in 1947; today it houses a collection of Roman stone sculpture. Next to it, the Communal Palace has been the town hall since 1296, and its rear wall still incorporates part of the Roman Temple of Diana. More live views of the city are collected on our Pula webcams page, and the Pula Arena webcam shows the Roman amphitheatre above the harbour.
